Flaschenbewertung (Mai 2015):
"Twenty years ago, this used to be one of my candidates for the worst wine from a top terroir in St.-Emilion. Things have changed incredibly since the acquisition of this property by Justin Onclin. The terroir is fabulously situated just adjacent to the walls of this medieval village, and the wine has gone from strength-to-strength. The 2012 has a dense purple color, a rocky and chalky minerality, medium to full body, and is long, rich and intense, elegant yet noble. Consumers have to be pleased that this long-time underachiever has finally raised its game under the new ownership. This is a property to seek out in St.-Emilion. Drink this 2012 over the next 15-20 years."
92/100 Punkte - Trinkreife: 2015 - 2035
Possibly the finest wine ever made in my 35-year tasting experience at this well-placed property just outside the walls and ancient moat (Les Douves) of St.-Emilion. The dense ruby/purple-hued 2012 Villemaurine exhibits lots of toasty vanillin intermixed with blackberry, blueberry and raspberry fruit notes. Sweet tannins, outstanding concentration, medium to full body, and impressive purity, texture and length make for a wine that clearly announces the renaissance of Villemaurine. It should drink well for 15+ years.

16/20 Punkte - Trinken: 2017 - 2034
This is rich and dense for the vintage with beautiful blueberry and dark chocolate character. Full and velvety. Long finish. I like the fruit and tannin balance for the vintage.
