"The 2006 Cervoles Estrats is a blend of 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Tempranillo, 17% Garnacha and 5% Merlot aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels. It comes in a heavy bottle and has an oak-driven nose with notes of peated malt, smoke, and vanilla, a little spirity with aromas of very ripe fruit, damsons, black cherries and blackcurrants. The palate is full bodied, with abundant, fine-grained tannins that give it a slightly dusty texture and marked flavors with moderate acidity. A powerful red that requires equally powerful food. Drink now-2018. Cervoles shares ownership with Castell del Remei also in Costers del Segre, but this is a much younger enterprise, created in 1997 and with an average production of 110,000 bottles."
